Faraway Wanderers - Chapter 66

An action-packed chapter.

A notice on my posting schedule: I'll try to finish the translation of the novel this month (not including the extras). Then, I'll take a break that will probably last about a month before translating the extras + going back over everything to edit the piece as a whole (will probably compile the finished work into a PDF).

Since TYK got locked on jjwxc, I don't have the original text of the extras anymore. If anyone's got a copy, it'd be neat if you could send a mail my way :)

As always, thank you Emma P for proofreading!

Notes

1. "(愿)此生中老温柔,白云不羡仙乡了" from opera《长生殿》or The Immortal Palace, by Hong Sheng.

2. 吃了熊心豹子胆 phase translated literally. The concept behind the saying is that certain food can confers great courage/bravery.

3. 不敢在太岁头上动土 (collq. phrase) or "not dare to dig on Taisui's head". Taisui is both the ancient name of Jupiter (the planet) and a mythical creature/god (something similar to mandrake from western lores). It became colloquial for someone who is stronger than oneself. Digging holes on its/their head would thus bring about calamity.

4. 长刀 or changdao.

5. 空手套白狼 collq. phrase translated literally. Meaning someone who comes unprepared for a difficult task.

6. 金丝大环刀, lit. "gold-threaded, great rings sabre". The weapon wielded by 白眉大侠 or "The White Browed Hero", the titular hero of the wuxia novel by Shan Tianfang, written as a sequel inspired by Sanxia Wuyi, a compilation of stories dating from the Qing dynasty.

Wow, Zhang Chengling is ready to go on his own. I love how he's improved but he's still his silly self. Also his style is a hilarious mix of his two adoptive dads and his own flair.

Thanks for the chapter!
