Faraway Wanderers - Chapter 37

I think all in all, I prefer Liu Qianqiao as a character independent of Devils' Valley. Also, wherein ZZS admit WKX is his people.

Thank you Emma P for proofreading!

Notes

1. WKX is said to "喝倒彩" or "shout throwing colours" which is the equivalent of booing a spectacle or performer. The traditional setting for entertainment like Chinese Opera is a cabaret/restaurant establishment. There is abundant interaction between actors and the audience from applause and cheers, to booing as the show goes on. Patrons can tip by throwing money on stage or asking the server to send in a "red packet".

2. The original joke is ZZS saying "滚!" which both means "Get lost/go climb a tree!" and "Roll!". Huang Daoren then rolls on the ground because of ZZS' blow. The plum tree is my addition in order to translate the joke.

3.撩阴脚 is an actual stance. Kicking people's genitalia is an underhanded move, and a grandmaster of a "orthodox" school using it is meant to convey that those people are pretty hypocritical.

4. 死马当成活马医 idiom translated literally. In context, it means Zhou Zishu treated Liu Qianqiao with medicine although he didn't know whether it may work because her condition was already critical.

5. 老温 (Lao Wen) is the long-standing pet name ZZS has for WKS. The prefix 老 (lao, lit. "old") is a term that is used in context to indicate familiarity. Close to someone calling a friend e.g. "Good ol' Mark". I've considered translating it to "Ol' Wen" but I think Old Wen is ok. You tell me.

I just wanna say: Your translation work is so good! Especially in translating the nuance of certain Chinese metaphors into English. Thank you so much for your efforts!

OMG face reveal?!

Also I hope Liu Qianqiao breaks away from all this. She's not blameless, but seems like she's been used and tricked.

Thanks for the translation!
