Faraway Wanderers - Chapter 28

WWK getting protective/jealous. Sweet.

A note on homophobia and misogyny. Chinese culture, like so many others, is misogynistic and as a consequence homophobic towards male homosexuals who seem to present feminine characteristics. A longer note could be written on the subject, but I think it's enough to acknowledge this fact here.

I chose to not water down any of the instances where either occurs because the MC being a borderline bigot in a BL story serves the purpose of the text here. A lot of the tension is built on internal conflict and suspense on how they'll ever manage to get it going.

Also, I like judging the source impartially.

Thanks Emma P and Christina H for proofreading!

Notes

1. 小白脸 lit. "small white face". Means men with pretty, white skin as their main characteristic. Implies that they aren't "manly man", and often derive social advantages from their good looks. Although derogatory, it's not vulgar per see. There is an overtone of sarcasm in WKX's use of the terms, though I'd imagine it's also an adequate physical description taken literally.

2. 无际无痕 lit. "no limit, no trace". Fictional m.a. technique.

3. 秦怀章 lit. 'Qin heart meaning".

3. 乃不知有汉,无论魏晋 from 桃花源记 by Tao Yuanming. A character from the titular Peach Blossom Spring (meaning utopia) speaks the quote when he realises that the Han dynasty has fallen, as well as the Wei and Jin ones, without his notice.

4. 白衣 translated literally. Ye Baiyi's last name. ZZS is being a bit dense here.

Misc. ZZS addresses Ye Baiyi as 前辈 or "elder/senior". It's the same address used by Zhang Chengling when he speaks to ZZS or WKX.
